Planning Presentation v1: Evidence-Based Fitness & Health Companion

Date: August 14, 2026 | Authors: Suryansh Chauhan, Avish Bansal, Manthan Ghai, Ishan Verma | Status: Permanent Record

01

Project Scope & Objectives

Problem Statement

Most commercial fitness applications treat health as a generic calorie equation without considering clinical context, such as active medications, drug-drug interactions, or blood biomarkers.

Core Objective

Develop a local-first, transparent health platform combining validated metabolic calculations with structured laboratory and pharmacological knowledge.

02

Proposed Functional Capabilities

1. Metabolic Calculations

Mifflin-St Jeor BMR equation, TDEE activity multiplier, target caloric surplus/deficit, and macronutrient distribution.

2. Anthropometric Tracking

Time-series measurement logs for weight, waist, neck, chest, arm, hip, and thigh circumferences.

3. Clinical Lab Interpretation

Structured classification of blood test panels (Cholesterol, Glucose, HbA1c, Liver enzymes) against reference boundaries.

4. Medication Knowledge

Generic/brand search, pharmacokinetics, common side effects, and warning contraindications.

5. Drug Interaction Matrix

Automated pairwise interaction verification highlighting clinical severity levels and cautionary alerts.

6. Medication-Lab Links

Correlates prescribed medications with biomarker shifts (e.g., Metformin impacting Vitamin B12, Statins impacting ALT).

Performance Goals & Security Measures

Performance Standards

  • Sub-50ms Response: Local relational database eliminates network latency for calculations.
  • 99.9% Availability: Background PM2 supervisor ensures persistent 24/7 API uptime on EC2.
  • 25MB Upload Ceiling: Enforced payload thresholds prevent accidental memory exhaustion.

Security & Validation

  • End-to-End TLS: Full HTTPS encryption with Let's Encrypt certificates.
  • IAM Least Privilege: Scoped AWS credentials restricted to dedicated bucket.
  • Admin Authentication: Upload endpoints secured with PIN credentials.
05

Technical Risks & Mitigation

Identified Risk Potential Impact Mitigation Strategy
Storage Quota Exceedance Moderate Enforced 25MB per-file upload ceiling and AWS zero-spend billing alert thresholds.
Compute Downtime High PM2 supervisor daemon with automatic crash recovery and systemd integration.
Unauthorized File Overwrite Critical Timestamped immutable S3 object keys prevent overwriting historical version deliverables.
